Treasurer
We're seeking a dedicated volunteer Treasurer to join our board and help steward our finances. As a small nonprofit with a modest operating budget, our financial needs are straightforward — but the role is essential to keeping our mission moving forward. This is a meaningful opportunity to use your skills to directly support mental health awareness and advocacy in Tuscaloosa.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of all income and expenses
- Reconcile the bank account monthly
- Prepare simple financial reports for monthly board meetings
- Manage deposits, reimbursements, and bill payments
- Manage memberships, including tracking new and renewing members and processing membership dues
- Assist in preparing the annual budget
- Ensure timely filing of required nonprofit financial paperwork (e.g., IRS Form 990-N postcard for small nonprofits)
- Coordinate with NAMI Alabama and NAMI National on any required affiliate financial reporting
Qualifications
- Comfort with basic bookkeeping and spreadsheets
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Trustworthy, dependable, and discreet
- Prior treasurer, accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience is helpful but not required
- Passion for mental health advocacy is a plus
