1. Performs routine overnight sleep studies on a variety of patients within all age groups excluding neonate and infant
2. Explain testing procedures to patients to obtain cooperation and reduce anxiety.
3. Monitor patients’ comfort and safety during tests, alerting physicians to abnormalities or changes in patient responses.
4. Obtain and record patient identification and medical history.
5. Adjust equipment and controls according to physicians’ orders or established protocol.
6. Prepare and position patients for testing.
7. Check, test, and maintain equipment, making minor repairs when necessary, to ensure proper operation.
8. Attends workshops, seminars, lectures and other programs as appropriate to gain knowledge of current trends in sleep disorders and techniques to insure high quality/effective studies
9. Must be adaptive and flexible to handle situations because of emergencies, changing workload, personnel shortages, new instrumentation, new procedures, changes in procedures, disaster and/or other unsuspected events.
10. Responsible for checking email each shift and for communicating with Co-Workers, Lead Techs and Supervisors.
11. Perform Disinfection as per manufacturer’s recommendation (IFU)
12. Adheres to standard precautions and hand hygiene
13. Performs and accurately records technical procedures safely, effectively, efficiently, and within scope of policy
14. Actively participates in department huddles, meetings, and communication

 Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required

Windows environment computer skills required.  CPR certification required prior to start date.  Licensed medical professional (i.e. LPN, MLT, EMT, etc.) preferred.  Must be able to read, write legibly, speak and comprehend English.  ASTEP completion required within two years.

Requires working with patient’s who possibly have a sleep disorder and other health issues.

Frequently able to stand, walk, kneel, sit, bend or crouch with good balance. 

Ability to sit in front of a computer monitor in a quiet room more than half the time while remaining vigilant.

Must be able to maneuver over uneven or rough surfaces. 

Must be able to ascend and descend stairs. 

Must be able to carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs. for 50 feet. 

Assist in turning and positioning patients weighing up to and beyond 200 lbs. 

Must be able to reach overhead to retrieve and/or replace objects. 

Must be able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range.

Physical presence onsite is essential.
