Stop Judging; Start Healing Stigma Summit - Huntsville
Monday, February 23, 2026 (8:30 AM - 3:45 PM) (CST)
Description
At this year’s summit in Huntsville, participants will explore ways to challenge the stigma surrounding substance use disorders. Stigma — shaped by deeply held societal misconceptions — remains a significant obstacle to treatment and recovery, with individuals experiencing SUD often being judged more harshly than those with other mental health conditions.
In Alabama, stigma remains a critical obstacle to care and affects self-perception among those with substance use disorders. This summit highlights evidence-driven practices, dispels misconceptions and raises awareness of stigma as a public health issue.
Who should attend?
Health care providers, social service professionals, first responders, law enforcement and anyone interested in fostering compassion and understanding of the stigma around substance use disorders.
